Yemi Alafifuni is a talented artist with a passion for genres including gospel, pop, and R&B. Hailing from Nigeria, this charismatic British singer and songwriter managed to combine stunning melodies with infectious grooves and great beats, in order to create a catchy, yet direct and edgy sound. Yemi’s recent album release, “Father”, is a great example of his sonic vision, marking a unique step forward for this artist. This song in itself is my story and tells of how knowing Padre (meaning Father) changed my life. Up to the age of 5, I had an enviable loving relationship with my biological dad, but our relationship took a turn for worse and suddenly, I could no longer depend on his love & protection.

The Father (God) isn’t like that. He is good and although we can be unfaithful, He remains constantly in love with us.

The inspiration for this song is drawn from a relationship with God as Father & the apparent epidemic of the “fatherless generation” which lead to the release of the ‘Father’ album. 

The video: Padre

This video tells the story of the society at large showcasing the difficult decisions that a lot of people are having to make on a day to day basis. The video sets a scene within a fine restaurant in London but amongst the lavish feel, there are a few who are struggling to meet the demands that life places on all of us. If we look around carefully, we would notice people in need and our keen response isn’t to just overlook them but to help and most of all, introduce our Father to them. There’s a great commission for the church to see all as equal and lead them to the effect of knowing Padre (meaning Father).
