Professional voting is now open for the 51st anniversary Gospel Music Association Dove Awards. Tyscot Records is thrilled that four of its affiliated artists are up for trophies for their recent releases.
Baltimore, Maryland’s Anthony Brown & group therAPy continued their hitmaking streak last year with their critically-acclaimed album, 2econd Wind: Ready (Key of A / Tyscot / FairTrade), which spawned the go-go-flavored radio smash, “Blessings on Blessings,” which spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart in 2019. The album earns a nomination for Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year while the single pulls Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.
Veteran R&B singer and Maroon 5 keyboard player, PJ Morton, will release his first-ever gospel album, Gospel According to PJ (Morton Inspiration/Tyscot), on August 28th. The first radio single from the project, “All in His Plan,” was released last summer and is currently in the Top 5 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart. The bluesy ballad features the dynamic vocals of Le’Andria Johnson and Mary Mary. That song is now vying for Traditional Gospel Recorded Song of the Year.
VaShawn Mitchell, a three-time past Dove Award winner, is up for another award for his soul-stirring album, Elements (Tyscot /FairTrade), for Gospel Worship Album of the Year. The 13-track set features the radio singles “God Can Do Anything,” “Wind of God” and “Set A Fire.”
This year’s virtual presentation – with the theme “#Carry the Change” – takes place on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 and broadcasts on the TBN cable television channel on Friday, October 30, 2020 @ 7 PM CT.
